About Us
|
The HLS Democrats seek to energize, amplify, and channel the political interests of Democratic law students. Our members are active in campaigns on the national, state, and local levels across America, and we work with the national Democratic Party to make sure that every vote can be exercised and counted. We seek to formulate a politics of inclusion, rather than division, promoting the traditional American values of fairness, equality, freedom, tolerance, and economic opportunity for all. |
From Michael Dukakis's first introduction to Senator John F. Kennedy at an HLS Democrats meeting in 1960 to Governor Dean's visit to campus in 2006 to help found the National Democratic Law Students Council, the organization has a rich history of providing unique and exciting opportunities for the HLS community. Each year, the organization sponsors:
- Campaign Activities
- Social Events
- Career Development Programs
- On-Campus Policy Events
- Research Opportunities
- Alumni Programs
- A Trip to Washington, D.C. to meet with elected officials and policymakers
Alumni of the organization include Senators Russ Feingold, Carl Levin, Jack Reed, and Charles Schumer, as well as Representatives Tim Allen, Barney Frank, Jane Harman, Sander Levin, and Brad Sherman.
